The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts (MMA) organization. Dana White serves as the president of UFC, owned by casino-moguls Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta. Zuffa, LLC, headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada, owns and operates the UFC. The UFC focuses on the heavier weight classes in MMA, whereas its associate promotion, the WEC, focuses on the lighter weights.
The UFC began as a single-event tournament which aimed to find the world's best fighters, irrespective of their style (whether boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, karate, or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, among others). Although there were a limited number of rules, promoters marketed fighting in the UFC as no holds barred and contests were often violent and brutal. Early UFC fights were less sport than spectacle, which led to accusations of "human cock fighting" by Senator John McCain and others.

The Red Sox also traded Adam LaRoche, who was with them just over a week, to the Braves for fellow first baseman Casey Kotchman. The potential deal that had fans of the Yankees and Red Sox holding their breath for weeks never did materialize. Roy Halladay stayed with the Blue Jays as the deadline passed.
"We think Victor Martinez is a great fit for our club," Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein said on a conference call with reporters, "and provides a significant offensive boost and does it with some versatility that complements our roster well." Martinez, 30, has a $7.5 million option for next season, which the Red Sox are likely to pick up, The Boston Globe reported. The Red Sox sent Justin Masterson and two minor league pitchers to Cleveland.
Martinez, hitting .284 with 15 homers and 67 RBI, has an unusual skill set. He's a switch hitter who has been a catcher most of his career, but due to injuries and defensive deficiency, he has played just as much first base of late. "There are a lot of things to like about Victor," manager Terry Francona told reporters in Baltimore. "[He] can do a lot to hopefully be able to attack a lot of the better pitching in the league."

X Games will be missing its defending champion, Jeremy Lusk, who died of severe head injuries in February after failing to fully rotate on a back flip in a similar contest in Costa Rica. He is believed to be the first freestyle motocross rider to die from injuries suffered during competition. Lusk, nicknamed "The Pit Bull" for his toughness and work ethic, was a member of a riding crew known as the Metal Mulisha, whose skull logo is plastered on the hats, T-shirts, motorcycles and tattoos of both team members and teenagers around the country.
Now Lusk's name can be seen on dirt bikes, shirts and skin all around the grounds of the X Games. "Pretty much my whole bike and my whole week are about Jeremy Lusk," said Metal Mulisha member Todd Potter after winning the Best Whip event Thursday night. Lusk will be the subject of a tribute on Saturday night before the event at Home Depot Center that will feature a fighter jet fly-by, words from teammates and a "moment of cheer," instead of a moment of silence, at the request of Lusk's family.
Also, X Games gold medals in every event will feature the letters of his last name surrounding a scrawled cross. "It's a huge loss. He was one of our top guys and he was my best friend," said Brian Deegan, founder of the Temecula, Calif.-based Metal Mulisha, who raced to Costa Rica to be by Lusk's side before his death. "I wish it never happened but it did. In the end we have to deal with it as a team, and go out there and stick together and be strong." Since Lusk's death, Deegan and others have helped create the American Freestyle Motocross Association.

ROME — Milorad Cavic sent quite a message heading into his showdown with, in the 100-meter butterfly, setting a world record and nearly becoming the first swimmer to break 50 seconds.

The Serbian, who still believes he beat Phelps at the Beijing Olympics, got off to his usual strong start — a second under the world-record pace at the turn — and held on at the end for a time of 50.01 in Friday’s semifinals. That broke the mark of 50.22 set by Phelps at the U.S. nationals on July 9.

Phelps won the other semifinal in 50.48, the second-fastest time and ensuring that he’ll swim right next to Cavic in Saturday night’s final.

Cavic’s record was the 34th of the meet.

Before Game 7 of the 1982 World Series, St. Louis manager Whitey Herzog was about to go to the field for batting practice. As he did, a few journalists in his office told him the many factors his team had in its favor that night in the one-game showdown with Milwaukee for the title.
Herzog responded to all their evaluations as he walked toward his office door, his fists jabbed into his Cardinals windbreaker. "It doesn't mean anything if we don't execute," he said. Soon after the trade deadline passes at 4 p.m. today, you'll be able to hear "winners" and "losers" declared. But no playoff berths will have been clinched. Even the teams that appear to have done the best in this year's trade market must still go out and play well in the big-game glare to reach the World Series.
As many years of baseball have shown us, if a team has an abundance of talent but doesn't execute -- doesn't play the game properly -- it puts itself in jeopardy of losing to a team with inferior talent. Conversely, a team that doesn't have the most talent but that does executes consistently -- hits the cutoff man, makes double plays and takes the extra base -- gives itself a chance to beat a team with a more dazzling roster.

Tour de France was the 96th Tour de France. It started on 4 July in the principality of Monaco with a 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) individual time trial which included a section of the Circuit de Monaco. The race visited six countries: Monaco, France, Spain, Andorra, Switzerland and Italy, and finished on 26 July on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

The total length was 3,445 kilometres (2,141 mi), including 93 kilometres (58 mi) in time-trials. There were seven mountain stages,three of which had mountaintop finishes, and one medium-mountain stage. The race had a team time trial for the first time since 2005, the shortest distance in individual time trials since 1967, and the first penultimate-day mountain stage in the Tour's history.2007 winner Alberto Contador won the race by a margin of 4'11", having won both mountain and time trial stages.

His Astana team also supplied the third placed rider, Lance Armstrong, and took the team classification.Andy Schleck, second overall, won the young riders' competition as he had the previous year,and Franco Pellizotti took the King of the Mountains title. Mark Cavendish won six stages, including the final stage on the Champs-Élysées, but was beaten to the green jersey by Thor Hushovd.The race started in Monaco with a 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) individual time trial, won by Olympic time trial champion Fabian Cancellara, who retained the yellow jersey throughout the first week, which was dominated by stages suited primarily to sprinters.

Kevin Pietersen has a serious problem with his Achilles tendon

One of the UK's leading orthopaedic surgeons fears England batsman Kevin Pietersen could miss much more than the remainder of the Ashes. Pietersen was yesterday ruled out of this summer's final three Tests against Australia after undergoing surgery on an inflamed Achilles tendon.
The 29-year-old is expected to be out of action until September but Simon Moyes, who works out of the Wellington Hospital in London, claims the prognosis could be worse. Moyes said: "Kevin Pietersen has a serious problem with his Achilles tendon known as chronic tendinopathy, which hasn't responded to the usual measures of physiotherapy and injections.

American football quarterback Tony Romo

Antonio Romo is an American football quarterback who plays for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He was signed by the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He played college football at Eastern Illinois.
Romo was born in San Diego, California, while his father was serving in the United States Navy. His family returned to its home in Burlington, Wisconsin when he was two years old. Romo's athletic ability was evident even at an early age when he was selected for the Little League All-Star team.
Romo started as quarterback for the Burlington Demons beginning as a junior (1996 season). During his junior season, Tony led the Demons to a SLC Conference record of 7–2 and the WIAA playoffs. In the 1996 playoffs, Romo and the Demons defeated Greenfield 17-6 before trouncing Badger 41–16. Romo came within one game of the state championship game but fell short in a last-minute 16-15 loss to Cudahy.

And when he figured to regain the lead on the par-5 13th, he hooked his tee shot and never found it, lucky to drop only one shot. "I had a few bad shots, which cost me, but happy where I am," Goosen said. "One shot off the lead, it's not a bad place to be going into the final round."

Indian police have arrested 2 men for stalking Sania Mirza.

HYDERABAD, India (AP)—Police in India have arrested two men for stalking tennis player Sania Mirza.

Police nabbed Ajay Singh Yadav on Thursday as he tried to barge into Mirza’s house apparently to profess his love and seeking to marry Mirza a day before she is to be engaged to Sohram Mirza.

Police said Singh reached the southern Indian city of Hyderabad, rushing to Mirza’s house and demanding to see her. Police took him into custody when he refused to leave.

Police says he’s as an engineering student. The arrest came a day after another engineering student was arrested when he tried to enter Mirza’s house. The student threatened to commit suicide if Mirza’s engagement ceremony was not canceled.

Ron Artest signed NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers

Ron Artest signed Wednesday with the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, the team he wanted to join for years. Artest, who played for the Houston Rockets last season, received a five-year deal worth about $33 million, according to his agent, David Bauman. Seated next to Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak, Artest professed that he has wanted to be a Laker for several years, but the timing was never right.
"This was a long time coming," Artest said. "As I started to compete against the Lakers and against Kobe (Bryant), I had respect for him and I always wanted to be a teammate of his." During the playoffs, Artest could be seen courtside at Lakers games and was in attendance during the NBA finals last season, when Los Angeles lost to Boston. After the Celtics clinched the championship in Game 6, Artest approached Bryant in the locker room and told him he wanted to help him out.

"I just wanted to make that connection," Artest said. "I wanted to let him know that he played tough and he played great and I can't wait to be a teammate of his." Artest agreed to a deal last week, but couldn't sign it until Wednesday. The Lakers also re-signed guard Shannon Brown. Brown signed a two-year contract for $4.2 million. The Lakers are still trying to retain free agent forward Lamar Odom, who averaged 12.3 points and 9.1 rebounds during the playoffs.

The seven-time Tour de France winner, who had been written off by most of the cycling experts before the race started last week in Monaco, almost took the yellow leader's jersey after the impressive collective triumph of his Astana team in Tuesday's team time trial.
A day after surging in a key breakaway to gain valuable time over his rival and teammate Alberto Contador, Armstrong moved up from third place to second overall and only trails race leader Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland by a few hundredths of second. "That's the way it is. We did our best. At one point, we thought we had it (the yellow jersey), but if I look back on our performance ... we were as sound as we could be," Armstrong said.

Armstrong and Cancellara share an overall time of 10 hours, 38 minutes, 7 seconds, although the Swiss rider was deemed a fraction ahead. Organizers examined Saturday's opening time trial in Monaco that was won by Cancellara — the results calculated to the thousandth of a second. On roads sometimes very tight on the outskirts of Montpellier, Armstrong took long relays and was always in front to guide his teammates when the course was dangerous.

The Ashes is a Test cricket series, played between England and Australia. It is one of international cricket's most celebrated rivalries and dates back to 1882. It is currently played biennially, alternately in England and Australia. However, since cricket is a summer game, the venues being in opposite hemispheres means the break between series alternates between 18 and 30 months. A series of "The Ashes" now comprises five Test matches, two innings per match, under the regular rules for international Test-match cricket. If a series is drawn then the country already holding the Ashes retains them.

The series is named after a satirical obituary published in an English newspaper, The Sporting Times, in 1882 after the match at The Oval in which Australia beat England on an English ground for the first time. The obituary stated that English cricket had died, and the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia. The English media then dubbed the next English tour to Australia (1882–83) as the quest to regain The Ashes. During that tour in Australia, a small terracotta urn was presented as a gift to the England captain Ivo Bligh by a group of Melbourne women. The contents of the urn are reputed to be the ashes of an item of cricket equipment, possibly a bail, ball or stump. Some Aborigines hold that The Ashes are in fact those of King Cole, the cricketer who toured England in 1868.

The Dowager Countess of Darnley, meanwhile, claimed recently that her mother-in-law (and Bligh's wife), Florence Morphy, said that they were the remains of a lady's veil. The urn is erroneously believed, by some, to be the trophy of the Ashes series but it has never been formally adopted as such and Ivo Bligh always considered it to be a personal gift.[2] Replicas of the urn are often held aloft by victorious teams as a symbol of their victory in an Ashes series, but the actual urn has never been presented or displayed as a trophy in this way. Whichever side holds the Ashes, the urn normally remains in the Marylebone Cricket Club Museum at Lord's since being presented to the MCC by Ivo Bligh's widow upon his death.

T20 World Cup 2010, West Indies Host To Twenty 20 World Cup Championship 2010

The West Indies will host the World Twenty20 Championship in 2010, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced here on Saturday.

The event will be held in place of the Champions Trophy that was to be hosted by West Indies in 2010, ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said at a press conference.

"With the Champions Trophy set to be hosted by Pakistan in 2009 after its cancellation this year, we decided to have a Twenty20 World Championship instead in April-May 2010 in West Indies," he said.

"Although World Twenty20 is to be held every second year, we decided to hold it on the trot to set the calendar right and ensure a better spread of tournaments."

The event, slated to be held from April 23 to May 9, will be staged at three venues to be chosen by the ICC Board in January 2009 following nominations from the West Indies Cricket Board.

3rd ICC T20 World Cup 2010 Fixtures and Schedules

The ICC World Twenty20 2010 is going be host by West Indies. The tournament to be played in 20-20 overs is schedule to begin from April 30 and it runs till May 16 for about 19 days. The T20 World Cup 2010 is the third edition of its kind. First it was hosted by South Africa in 2007 and then England on 2009. India and Pakistan were the champions in the respective years of 2007 and 2009.

Still two more teams are undecided for the tournament and this time Zimbabwe will also have their comeback since they were not playing in England on 2009.

Fixtures and Schedule:
The three countries in West Indies will be hosting the competition on 2010. Guyana, St. Lucia and Barbados will be hosting all the total of 27 matches. The series will be played in same format as in 2009 T20 World Cup. The finals on May 16 2010 will be hosted by Barbados. Here is the complete fixtures and schedule of T20 World Cup 2010:

WIMBLEDON, England (AP)—Roger Federer was playing for history. Andy Roddick was playing the match of his life.

Roger Federer won a record 15th Slam title after beating Andy Roddick in Wimbledon's longest fifth set

On and on they dueled, Federer trying for a record-breaking 15th major championship, Roddick striving for his second, in a Wimbledon final that required more games than any Grand Slam title match in the considerable annals of a sport dating to the 1800s.

“Ten games all, final set,” intoned the chair umpire. Then, “Twelve games all, final set.” And, still later, “Fourteen games all, final set.”

They were each other’s equal for four full sets and nearly the entire 30-game fifth set. Until Federer, far more experienced in such matters, finally edged ahead, breaking Roddick’s serve for the only time in the 77th and last game to close out a 5-7, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5), 3-6, 16-14 victory Sunday.

The epic match—the fifth set alone lasted more than 1 1/2 hours—gave Federer his sixth Wimbledon title. Add that to five from the U.S. Open, three from the Australian Open and one from the French Open, and Federer’s Grand Slam total rises to 15, one more than Pete Sampras, who flew in from California on Sunday morning to be on hand.

Federer won the French Open four Sundays earlier to complete a career Grand Slam and tie Sampras with 14 major titles (Margaret Smith Court owns the women’s record of 24).

Roger Federer Greatest tennis player

London, July 5 (ANI): Tennis legend Pete Sampras considers Swiss player Roger Federer, who will overtake his record of 14 Grand Slams if he beats Andy Roddick in today's Wimbledon final, as the greatest tennis player of all time.

What he's done over the past five years has never, ever been done and probably will never, ever happen again. Regardless if he beats Roddick, he goes down as the greatest ever. This just confirms it, The News of the World quoted Sampras, as saying.

Sampras was all in admiration for the player, who has been consistent over the years.

I'm happy for Roger. If there's anyone that deserves it, it's him.

He is a great player who is a credit to the sport and a positive influence for young kids. It looks tough to beat now with 14 Majors and I'm sure he'll win more, he added. (ANI)

Earlier this week, the Pirates continued their annual dismantling, sending Nyjer Morgan, Sean Burnett, and Eric Hinske packing, this coming after Nate McLouth was dealt to the Braves. Mark DeRosa was sent to the Cardinals this week as teams continue to scour MLB looking for that "last piece of the puzzle" that would propel them to October baseball. With only five teams 10 or more games out of first place, trading may not get into full swing until the end of July, but here's a list of players that could get traded:

* Matt Holliday, OF, A's: My pick for the AL West is in the cellar right now and likely stuck there for the remainder of the season. Holliday is a free agent and could help a lot of teams, if they're willing to pay the likely steep asking price.

* Cliff Lee, P, Indians: Another year, another disappointment for Cleveland, who is currently sporting the worst record in the American League. Cleveland is due for a major roster shakeup and Lee is a free agent in 2010, unlikely to resign with Cleveland. Now would be a good time for the Indians to get some value in return for Lee.

* Jack Wilson, SS, Pirates: Clearly, Wilson is not happy in Pittsburgh. After the most recent Pirate trades, Wilson criticized team management for the second time in a year and is in the last year of his contract (2010 team option). Time for Wilson and the Pirates to go their seperate ways.

* Erik Bedard, P, Mariners: After a terrible 2008, Bedard has rebounded nicely and is 5-2 with a 2.47 ERA. A free agent at the end of the year, Bedard will command big bucks and probably won't get it from the Mariners. If his pricetag comes down, Bedard will be moving.

Big time players from Babe Ruth to current stars like Derek Jeter are household names in baseball country. There's also a long list of players not well known beyond the city hosting their team. They were lesser known players who electrified crowds when called into action. Some were reserves, late season call-ups or deadline beating trades.

So, I decided to have a little fun compiling a position by position list of players from my lifetime who had huge moments when it counted most. A few went onto enjoy great careers. Others had very brief golden moments. Here they are:

1B- Don Clendenon - (1969) Expos traded DC to Mets mid-season for Bill Carden, Dave Colon, Devin Collins & Steve Renko. Helped spark an enemic New York offense on their way to becoming the "Amazin' Mets" after over taking a Cubs 10 game lead to become run away winners of NL East. 12 HR in 72 games. Named World Series MVP.

2B- Brian Doyle - (1978) Filled in after popular Willie Randolph was lost for the playoffs due to injury. Batted only .192 in 54 late season AB's. Played exceptional defense earning loud ovations in Yankee Stadium. Forever remembered as helping Yanks win World Series over LA when he batted .438. Short career ended soon thereafter.

3B- Evan Longoria - (2008) An instant Tampa sensation and Rookie of the Year winner. Helped Rays to 1st ever winning season and division title. 27 regular season homers. Lead Tampa into World Series with 4 HR in ALCS. Shining star enjoying a superb 2009.

SS- Bucky Dent - (1978) Initially a popular players player but over shadowed in fans eyes by star names until his infamous homer over "The Green Monster" to win a one game winner take all game in Fenway Park vs the Red Sox. Instrumental player for NY team that trailed Boston by 14 games earlier in the year. Forever referred to by Boston fans as "Bucky F------ Dent!" Named World Series MVP in victory over Dodgers.

LF- Miguel Cabrera - (2003) June 20th call-up homered in first Marlins game becoming an instant South Florida favorite. Later homered in 1st two NLCS games and batted 10-30, 3 HR overall. A star was born vs Roger Clemens in the World Series. Clemens knocked him down with a high hard head hunting fastball. Cabrera homered on the very next pitch. Marlins eventually won Series. He's currently an MVP candidate in '09 for Detroit.

CF- Del Unser (1980) Semi-journeyman had already been a local favorite for previous teams. He was a pinch hitter extraordinaire toward the end of his career in Philadelphia beginning in '80 season. Had key PH AB in come from behind Game 5 WS win vs Royals (Phillies won in 6). Batted .455 with three doubles in 1980 post-season competition.

RF- Shane Spencer (1998) Late season call-up electrified New York by crushing everything in sight. In 73 plate appearances he nailed 10 homers, 27 RBI, .373 BA, 1.321 OPS. Had fans standing on their feat with every at bat. 8 September HR's, 21 RBI in 10 starts. Homered in both starts during ALDS vs Toronto (3-6, 2 HR, 2B). Yanks fan favorite and platoon player until the magic wore off in '02.

C- Eddie Perez - (1999) Braves super sub backstop came through with big hit after big hit. Became personal catcher for Steve Avery pitched games in '96. In '97, he was preferred by Greg Maddux who went 19-4, 2.20. Destroyed Mets pitching in '99 NLCS filling in for injured Javy Lopez. Won NLCS MVP batting 10-20, 2 HR.

DH- Edgar Martinez (1987-2004) Probably Seattle's 2nd All Time favorite player behind Ken Griffey, Jr. A pure hitting talent and potential Hall of Fame inductee. He burst onto the scene in '87 batting .372 with 7 of his 16 hits going for extra bases. Two time American League batting champ played in 7 All Star Games. Martinez was as hot as a hitter can be during Seattle's first playoff appearance ('95) vs Yankees. In a best of five series, he guided Seattle to victory by batting .571 (12-21, 6 R, 3 2B, 2 HR, 10 RBI). His Game 5 bottom of the 11th inning lined shot double to LF was the game winning walk off hit. Finished career with a .312 BA in 2055 games.

SP- Don Larsen - (1956) He was hero for a day after pitching the only perfect game in World Series history mowing down 27 cross town rival Brooklyn Dodgers. Not bad for a guy who lost 21 games two years prior.

CL- Adam Wainwright - (2006) 33 save closer Jason Isringhausen got hurt at the end of '08 season. Mgr LaRussa thrust first year pitcher Wainwright into closer role for playoffs. He was absolutely stellar. Biggest highlight was striking out Carlos Beltran with bases loaded to save NLCS Game 7 vs Mets. Cardinals eventually won World Series. Wainwright was an instant sensation and playoff hero. 9 games, 9 IP, 0 runs, 15 K, 4 Saves. Currently a Cards starting pitcher.

Manager- Don Zimmer - (1965-2009) Beloved former player, fiery manager/coach spent his entire adult life in professional baseball. High's and low's throughout career. One of baseball's most colorful figures. Managed two cursed teams: Boston Red Sox & Chicago Cubs. His 1978 Red Sox blew a large late season lead and one game playoff to New York Yankees. Guided Cubs to 1989 NL East title but they lost NLCS. Joe Torre's bench coach during World Series hey-day. Yankees have not won a Series since Zimmer stormed out of NY after fueding with team owner George Steinbrenner.

Honarable mention: Rusty Staub (1973 NYM), Cesar Cedeno (1985 STL), Joe Charboneau (1980 CLE), Pat Borders (1992 TOR), Kerry Wood (1998 CHI), Tug McGraw (1973 NYM, 1980 PHI), Joba Chamberlain (2007 NYY), Bernie Carbo (1975 BOS).

NFL training camps are getting ready for action. Shrewd fantasy football players are busy scouting players for their drafts. Here's my quick top to bottom rankings for 2009 QB's based on potential fantasy value...

1- Tom Brady (NE) - He's back after getting hurt in 1st game of '08. Plenty of weapons. Top notch coaching staff. If sound, Brady should be good for 4000+ yards and at least 30 td's (40+ possible).

2- Phillip Rivers (SD) - Plays for throw heavy scheme coupled with NFL top back Tomlinson is a deadly combo. Sluggish beginning to '08 season must not repeat in '09. 3800+ yards and 30+ TD's within reach once again.

3- Drew Brees (NO) - 5069 yards passing nearly eclipsed Dan Marino's NFL record (5084). Wide open attack will have Brees throwing at will again in '09. 4500+ yards, 30+ TD's. Watch out for costly interceptions.

4- Matt Ryan (ATL) - 2008 Rookie of the Year has a new weapon in record setting TE Tony Gonzalez. Acquiring Gonzo will open up deep passing lanes, gaps for running game and keep Ryan from any hints of a sophmore jinx. 3500+ yards, 25+ TD's.

5- Peyton Manning (IND) - Manning enters 13th pro season. A strong Indy running game is needed to keep opposition from focusing on passing attack. Crafty vet is hungry for another title. 4000+, 27+.

6- Aaron Rodgers (GB) - Great future in store for Rodgers if he becomes consistent from game to game. It's still a learning experience in progress. He'll make great strides in '09. 3500+ yards, 25+ TD's, 5+ rushing TD.

7- Jake Delhomme (CAR) - I like Delhomme here. He's a winner and gutsy competitor. Defenses will try clamping down on Panthers running attack after 28 rushing TD's from DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart in '08. Carolina's arsenal is full for '09. Delhomme comes through with Pro Bowl type season. 3600+, 25+.

8- Tony Romo (DAL) - Warning... draft a solid backup for December games! Romo is a great 3/4 season QB with well documented end of season failures. Perhaps Cowboys will have a change of fortune down the stretch without team drag Terrell Owens mucking up team chemistry? Romo must get on same page with speedy young wideouts. Needs to drastically cut down on INT's and fumbles. 3300+, 25+. Beware of turnovers on mis-executed routes to young wr's.

9- Kurt Warner (AZ) - Risky ranking Warner this high as he's always one play away from injury. Had a terrific fantasy stat year during Cardinals '08 Super Bowl chase. Can he get it done again in '09 minus WR Boldin and Offensive Coordinator Haley (now KC Head Coach)? Arizona figures to test opposing secondaries early and often. 4000+, 30+ if healthy and winning! Buyer beware.

10- Carson Palmer (CIN) - Will Cincy have NFL's worst team chemistry again this season? Self destructing turmoil followed this team every step of the way last year before season began. Palmer might put up great numbers if infighting has subsided. Playing catchup football late in games will pad fantasy stats. If healthy, he's good for 3500+, 23+.

11- Eli Manning (NYG) - The great unknown... will any Giants WR step up as a major NFL threat in '09? New York's devastating running game will open up many play action opportunities for Eli. Stern task master Coughlin hopes for no more off field fiasco's in '09. 3200+, 23+

12- Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) - Plain a simple, a pure winner. One of NFL's strongest field generals and clutch performers. Big Ben's winning ways do not necessarily translate into solid game to game fantasy stats. One of my favorite NFL signal callers. 3100+, 20+.

13- Donovan McNabb (PHI) - Tough to rank McNabb as one never knows which QB will show up from week to week. Rebounded nicely after subpar beginning in '08. Led team to NFC Championship game with precision passing in December. Eagles fans are hoping for an encore. An enhanced WR corps should help. 3300, 20+, and a few scrambles for added yardage.

14- Jay Cutler (CHI) - Da Bears fans are hoping new arrival Cutler can jumpstart an enemic offense. He finally teamed up with a good running game and swarming defense as supporting cast. Put up nice fantasy numbers in Denver last year. Chicago needs a creative scheme to get him outside the pocket. He's my pick for 2009's anything can happen QB. Potential 3600+, 25+ and 400+ yards rushing. Also potential for 20+ INT's learning a new system.

15- Chad Pennington (MIA) - 2008 Comeback Player of the Year play action pass specialist has deep threats to compliment a wide open running attack. Excellent protector of the pigskin, usually makes smart throws and throwaways. 3300+, 19+.

16- Joe Flacco (BAL) - Upside appears to be poise under pressure. Led Ravens to 11-5 record as a rookie. Don't count on big numbers from a QB ranked this deep. But, don't be surprised to be the recipient of a few big totals when Ravens win field position battles. 3000+, 17+ and maybe a few goal line bursts from one of NFL's physically stronger QB's.

17- Matt Schaub (HOU) - At first glance, you'd better have great point producers from RB/WR is Schaub ends up being your starting QB. Then again he did complete 66.1% in 11 starts for 3,043 yards. Looks great on paper but not great scoring wise from week to week. Has great WR and spirited running attack. Defense must win battle of field position for offense to excel. Could be a great sleeper pick overlooked in most leagues. 3300+, 20+.

18- David Garrard (JAX) - One year removed from a masterful 2007 campaign. Team turmoil and injuries derailed everyone in '08. Garrard will be given a chance to rebound. 3000+, 19+ if regains old form. You're in trouble if he faulters.

19- Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) - Is his arm sound? If so, he's only one year removed from 3,966 and 28 TD's. A good sleeper pick and/or compliment to Tony Romo, Kurt Warner & Flacco if you're lucky enough to nab 2 solid starters. Another anything can happen QB. Good arm will net 3000+, 20+. Bad arm 2800+, 17+, 20 INT or worse (benching)! Training camp will determine his true value heading into '09. Keep an eye on pre-season games. They'll actually mean something for Hasselbeck.

20- Matt Cassel (KC) - Cassel's 2009 value is unknown. Downside: New QB for rebuilding franchise coming off 2-14 2008 & no future Hall of Fame target TE Tony Gonzalez. Upside: Creative new Head Coach was Arizona's Offensive Coordinator last year (Todd Haley). No doubt Haley will transform an underachieving offense. BIG question: Is Cassel a bonified NFL starting QB? He played for a talent rich Patriots team. How will he do for a less talented roster expecting miracles? 2800+, 15+. Numbers will significantly increase if KC trails by large margins and faces prevent defenses (including interceptions).

21- Trent Edwards (BUF) - Buffalo's man of the future. That's what they're hoping to get with Edwards. Bills went out and signed outspoken Terrell Owens. Whether or not TO's talent helps this team on the field or disrupts from the sidelines remains to be seen. Solid progression by Edwards is expected by fans in northwestern New York. 2800+, 17+.

22- Kerry Collins (TEN) - It's a very thin and uncertain pool of remaining QB's. No need to worry unless you play in large leagues. Collins could be a decent spot starter/backup on fantasy teams. Main advantage is an outstanding coaching staff creating solid game plans. Turnovers were always a big concern earlier in his career. Don't expect more than token points with Collins at QB. 3000+, 15+. Be wary of interceptions and sack fumbles.

No QB rankings representing 23-32 as remaining teams starters have yet to be finalized. Redskins, Jets, Browns, Lions, Bucs, Raiders, Vikings, 49ers, Rams and Broncos starting nods will be won in training camp.
